...since it is his first one ever!.... do you think tickets to a broadway..
show or tickets to one of his favorite band concerts would be a good present? or is that not very Father's Day like of a present? Should I go for the powertools like he loves? I'm not sure....???? What do you think?

I got my husband Yankee/Red Sox tickets this year. (He loves sports). But in the past I got him cologne, cd's, chef tools (cuz he's a chef).

Since it's his first, make it special, but there will be one every year, so you don't have to go overboard on this one. If his favorite band is in the area that he would love, or the broadway show, DO THAT. Because you might not be able to do that next year.

But if you think he would prefer the tools, then do that. Or give him a GC to his favorite store that sells tools so he could pick out something he's been wanting.

I don't think guys care as much as women when it comes to this kind of stuff. But you know him more then anyone else!

I don’t think there are any set rules on what makes a good father’s day present. I would suggest something that you know makes him happy! If that’s a broadway show or a concert, then that’s a great present! If he actually prefers powertools, that might even better. It’s best to get him something he wants, rather than something you want him to want! LOL!!

Does he have a good photo of you and the little Boo? That would also be a nice present! Another thing we made when my daughter was little was a tshirt with "very best dad" on it using stamps and paint. He wore it only on fathers day every year for a long time!

But really, it can be anything that you think he would like.

Father's Day presents, unless your guy has specifically asked for something, are always hard to pick out when the kid is not the one doing the picking. My advice is to get him something you know he will enjoy. If that means a power tool, head to Home Depot and pick one out. If you know he's been dying to see a show, concert, or game you can get tickets to, that's good too. Just make sure it's something you know he'll like and that will make him feel special. That is the most important thing, even if other people might think it's weird.

Go with the power tools that he loves and a how to book on making toys or furniture for kids.

My grandpa made me a baby doll and barbie bunk beds, a simple (box-like) stove, and a stepping stool. My mom and grandma made and helped me make clothes for me and my dolls.

The link below gives you an idea of play-furniture, all more elaborate than the ones my grandpa built.

I gave my husband a lathe for Christmas. About the only thing he made for it, was a miniature baseball and bat (which our son teethed on, until I saw and removed it from his little mouth).

Anything that one enjoys can be given to him as a gift, so that's a good present. This is the gift that worked for me: a masseur device, a good idea after a long and hard day of work.
